Title: Upgrade fro Windows ME to xp-Pro
Post by: robwilli on January 30, 2004, 09:56:55 PM
I'm running a pentium-III at 1 Gh with 512 Mb ram.
I was successfully using Avast!-4 home with Windows ME.
I just completed an upgrade to Win xp-Pro and now I have no globe icon in the system tray.  When I open the Avast! program, it tells me resident protection is disabled.  Even if I enable it in the Avast! interface there is no globe in the system tray and I get no indication that e-mail, etc. is being scanned.  If I close the Avast! "simple user interface" and re-open it, resident protection is again disabled.
I tried going to the Avast! site and re-downloading/installing the program--no luck.
What should I do next?
Thanks in advance---

You'll need to completely uninstall the program, and then install it again.

Thanks

Thanks, that worked.  I should have tried it before taking your time!
