Title: Delayed opening pages in Windows 7 with latest versions of Avast
Post by: jhonny_f808 on March 16, 2021, 04:12:25 AM
In the latest versions of Avast it produces a somewhat slow connection when opening some pages, there is also a delay when going back in the browser. I clarify that I have 4 computers, 2 with Windows 7 and two with Windows 10. In the versions with Windows 10 there is no problem, but in both with Windows 7 this problem occurs. So I guess the problem only occurs with Windows 7 systems. Looking for information I was able to solve it by disabling the HTTPS parsing of the web shield option. I would like to know if the same thing happens to any of you. In previous versions this did not happen. I hope Avast fixes this behavior. Additionally I also clarify that I have a 200 Mbps internet connection

I apologize for my bad English. I am not a native speaker

Possibly the same bug that I have on Windows 8.1: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=250745.0

You can try to disable QUIC/HTTP3 scanning to see if it's better
Settings-> Protection -> Core Shields -> Web Shield -> uncheck Enable QUIC/HTTP3 scanning.

They are working on a fix

I read your post and my computers present the same systems described; lag on some pages and when watching YouTube videos.

I did the steps you described to me disabling the QUIC / HTTP3 scan and it works. Thanks a lot

In addition, as another alternative, it would be to install an older version of avast free, for example, 20.9 or 20.8 that do not present this problem. For those interested, the standalone versions can be downloaded here.

https://www.filepuma.com/download/avast_free_antivirus-2/versions/

It must be installed without an internet connection so that the program does not automatically update to the latest version.
Once installed you have to go to settings >> (In the "general" tab go to the option that says "update") >> click on the option "Your application" >> click on "More Options" and select "Ask when updates are available ”.

Then they can connect to the internet, just ignore the messages that the application needs to be updated while Avast releases a new update that corrects the problem. In this case there would be no need to disable the QUIC / HTTP3 scan since the previous version does not present this problem.

I apologize again for my bad English.
