Title: Exception in polymorph viruses code
Post by: Island_Boy on December 11, 2006, 11:01:44 PM
Hi All
I have a friend using Avast Home, latest version with latest definitions, also using ZoneAlarm free.  She is quite paranoid about viruses, so does boot time scans 2 or 3 times a week!  Anyway, when she ran a scan on Monday (11/12/06, or 12/11/06 for the yanks reading this...  ;D) , she got the error message "Exception in polymorph viruses code" on every file that was scanned.  I've had a look through the forums to see what other folks have had this problem, but my friend does not use any sort of "net nanny" type of software.  So, apart from re-installing Windows or Avast, what can be done and what could be causing the problem?  My friend does not go to any "bad" websites (she's over 70), does not do online gaming, P2P or any other file sharing - just e-mailing using OE 6 and surfing using IE 7 or Firefox 2.
Any help / constructive comments appreciated.
Thanks
Peter

If you search the board you'll find that this is not anything to worry that much.
It's the 'famous' avast error message http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=4818.msg65672#msg65672
42100 AVAST_POLYVIR_EXCEPTION   Exception in polymorphic viruses code

I never found a good 'solution' for it...
