Title: MS open up on Vista PatchGuard APIs
Post by: polonus on December 20, 2006, 03:57:30 PM
Hi malware fighters,

MS opens up her PatchGuard API to security vendors:

Is this also good news for the malcreants to load up their API analyzing tools?

Again the normal user is vulnerable, because the 64 PatchGuard stays secure.
Although some may have a well designed clue as according to what lines PatchGuard may work (and alas again it is more of the same formula - security through obscurity- "I laid my hanky there, and hope no one will tell").

I got the docs, it's nothing special but better than nothing,

Im just wondering why it's taking so long to implement it - the current plan is to include the new APIs in Vista SP1 scheduled for 2008.

Probably the most expedient way to get the EU regulators of their back.  ;D
