Sorry, this is currently not possible in the home edition.
We may be adding this functionality in some upcoming updates, though..

Thanks

That's funny... you don't like skins just like that ? So did you "shave" your Windows to look like Windows 3.11 ? You can save some system resorces (some 0.01%)  ;) That was joke...

You can always switch to low-res skin. It still looks good, and I believe it takes less resources...

Cheers !

no its not speed, just hate skins. also, on avast it feels like they are bit buggy. just a plain interface and text links or buttonstyle like the ''On-Acces Protection Control'' will do fine :)

I've always just used the low res skin.  It has the same functions as the others.  Not that there is anything wrong with them.  It's eye candy.

I'm a big fan of Windows 3.11!  Add a disk cache utility like Lightning for Windows and that SOB will fly! :o

I hated all 3.xx windows platforms. So thats when I made the switch to much faster Mac OS 1.0.12

Well, as you know, MS stole the GUI idea from Apple.   Someday, if I need to get a new machine from the ground up, it'll be a Mac!

Yeah, but I bet my old 486 with Lightning would out perform your old Mac.  Too bad we can't take benchmarks in hindsight :P

It feels like they are bit buggy ?  >:( What's that suppose to mean ? They are not buggy and that's for sure. All skins are tested 100 and more times by me (those that were made by me), M.Novak, Vlk and also by other members of Alwil software. No skin can be in avast! skin download section if it hasn't passed all those tests. Find just one bug and I'll kill myself, 'cause I'm 100% sure I took it to perfection... (well, at least I gave my best) ...that was my intention in the first place. I really don't understand some people... You give them something more and they keep complaining more than ever before... just like you took something from them. I don't have a problem if you hate my skin style or you hate the way I made all of my skins. It's OK, I didn't expect that all users will like them, but there are some wonderful skins done by Martin Novak, and no one can tell me that those are no good ! Those are wonderful !

No one can stop you hate those skins, no one can force you use them... it's very simple, though... if you don't like them, don't use them, but to say that those are buggy ?!! Common...

Cheers !

First of all, I'm not artist at all. I just love what I do and I'm trying to put myself 100% into this job.

"Impressionable" is the word that you needed in that sentence... no I'm not, I told you, I'm not artist ;)

Everybody in this forum likes my work, some of them don't like my style, but at least  they have some decency not to spit on someone else's work, 'cause they know that making of skins is hell of a hard work...

If you don't know how to appreciate it, or better to say, you don't wanna appreciate it, so you think this is the place where you can spit all over people... you are wrong my friend. Find some flamming forum..

What kind a man you are when you are able to say "I hate artists too" that easy ? Tomorrow, when you find some small minor bug in avast antivirus program, you'll say: "I hate programmers", very next day: "I hate forum support..." etc. People like you is very difficult to understand well... it smells like Croatia (no offence to anyone particular, but I had some very jealous friends down there), so I think it's better for you to continue your little fight with your Cube page... sounds familiar ?   ;)

And, yes... you can turn off skins in avast!, but first you have to find out  how to do that...

By the way, nothing is going to explode... that's just you are being paranoid...  ;D

This is in no way an insult to the artisits of the skins that are available for Avast. I say this with all due respect!

I would really love to see a skin free skin myself. I like the "Avast! on access scanner" GUI, and it presents a very professional screen, that looks good and is easy to use. If the creators of Avast could come up with a skin free skin that is set up, and looks just like the on access scanner GUI, I think they would have the best of both worlds with their AV.

I know Douglas, and you're 100% right. Some people don't like fancy skins and they want their program to do it's primary function first. It's completely understandable. Nothing wrong with that, but did you see that guy talking some stupidities like he hates artists and similar stuff ? Is obvious that his intention was to provoke, but I'm 300% calm... why ? for the second time - 'cause I'm not artist !  ;) I just like to draw and that little tiny fact doesn't make me artist, right ? So I don't know who is that guy who he hates... ::)

Cheers !

P.S. Mina, I'm sending big greetings to your Egyptian people !!! And BTW, this is picture preview of my new "Corporate" skin. I sent it to Vlk, few minutes ago, so he'll perform some additional tests tomorrow (most likely)...

Thanks guys, you're real friends. Your voices of support made me feel so good. I still can not believe that this forum is so full of wonderful people... real friends, not fake ones. You can see who's your real friend when it comes to battle. Thanks a lot, and I must say something one more time...

I'm not artist ! Artists are people who makes money on their artworks, or not make money at all, but art is their primary job. My job is everything but art... I like to spend some time drawing, painting, playing in Fireworks, Photoshop etc., but I'm far from artist...

Thanks again !

Yes I saw what he said. He was probably just fishin for a conflict. People won't get much help here by acting that way!

So the photo of the new Avast screen, what is that? Is that a new skin, or your solution to maybe a GUI for a skin free skin? Its rather cool looking!

It is a windows based application, like any other, without skins...
Of course, there are a lot of other advantages comparing to Home version.  8)

Hello there my Brasilian friend !!! I missed ya already ! This forum is kinda quiet without you... we all need your support my friend !

Yes, there are some new skins in skin download section. I know that you like my work, so I hope you'll find something nice in there for you. By the way, this new skin called "corporate", I think you'll like that one most.

Yeah, make them larger in size. On some of the skins, it is hard for me to read the files as they are being scanned. I am still from the old school of thought. Bigger is better!

Tipton, I understand you but... let Sasha test the skins into 640 x 480 pixels monitor... sometimes big skins does not fit into the screen  ;)

I think we can have 'minimalist' skins side by side of 'bigger' ones... The user can choose if some experts could have time to make different skins...  ;D

Yes, that's true. It's not problem just in base (main) skin screen, but I have to consider those sliding pannels (those 3 little ones) knowing that they will also take some space on the screen. It's hard to believe that someone is still using 648x480 pixels resolution, but also I'm pretty sure that there are many individuals who still can't afford big size and good quality monitors... I also don't want to forget those guys and girls, and I MUST think of them too...

But... there is another one catch... I have an idea... I can make... no, no, no... I won't tell, I'll surpise you guys !!! Just wait few days... I have to rest my eyes a little bit.  ;D

Actually, I always use 1024x768 pixels resolution on my home computer. I'm so lucky to have my 17" Dell monitor, nothing to big, nothing to much, but the picture is crystal clear. When I make web sites, designing skins or producing other graphic materials, I always use 1024x768, but as I like to test my web sites on IE (MyIE2, Avant)  I also like to test them in Mozilla or Opera, just to be sure they will work properly, I also test my stuff on 800x600.

That's why I said before that skins seems to me already way too big. On 1024x768 they take almost 1/3rd of my desktop, so you can imagine what's happening on 800x600. Anyway, I must admit that sometimes I have some problems reading those little letters ( Tipton, I'm close to you by how old I am... 33 ughhh)... I mean, I can read those, but after I leave my computer, my eye focus is I don't know where... you can perfectly spot little ant on the ground, but you can't see the elefant in front of you, hahaha... ;D It's really important for your eyes, what screen refresh rate you keep your monitor on. It should be as big as your monitor can handle. I keep mine on 100 Hertz.

I do not think the Avast Skin is ugly,...but honnestly I do find the plain W2K-look we find in the on-Access scanner much better for software.
So I hope this skin will be available for the scanner aswel,...
The possibility should be included you can choose for a default windows 2000 skin.

I wrote in one of my latest few posts: "...It's finished and very, very ready to use. We just have to wait for Vlk to approve it and upload it in avast skin download section..."

It's always like that and you guys must be patient. I test all my skins more than 100 times before I ever send them to Alwil guys... you must understand me, there is a looooooot of work... I must make design of future skin in my head, I must find the best way how to transform that (sometimes) crazy idea into real skin, I have to draw all graphics and believe me, there is a bunch of little buttons for which I need 3 or sometimes 5 button states. I also have to make all those animations (sliding pannels), button transitions, framming graphics etc, etc. There is always million possibilities to make a "wrong move" somewhere... so, my first and most important job after I finish skin design, is to check how my skin is behaving in all possible situations... I don't want to put it on web site unles I'm 159% sure that everything is OK. After me, Vlk is first one who checks my skins. If he finds something like some picture should be changed or anything else... he e-mails me right away with no delay, the very next minute (THANKS ONDREJ, YOU'RE SO PROFESSIONAL... a way to go !!!).

Vlk sent me e-mail yesterday and he is very happy because of my new "CORPORATE" skin. He doesn't even know about this new one called "Flat'n'Simple"... and that's because he sleeps like a baby now... different time zone iz Czech Republic. I sent him "Flat'n'Simple" few hours ago, and he'll receive it first thing when he enters his office. I'm sure he will check it right away, he always does it that way.

In his last e-mail to me, he told me that they will publish my new skins at the beginning of the next week or sooner if I insist. I can not insist, they are too good to me already... but guys, you could insist and ask them to publish it sooner. Let us hear your voices !!!  ;D

So, once again... be little more patient and skin will show up in skin download section before you know... promise !  ;)

That's actually my very first web site done with Macromedia's Flash MX 2004... I like it a lot ! Regarding rewards and discovering me and my love for graphic design... from your mouth to God's ears. I still work on some jobs not so related to computers, 'cause Canada doesn't recognize my diplomas from Croatia, Europe, and I don't have so much money to go to school all over again... :-\. But, I hope everything will be better soon... I hope... ::)

Hello my wolf friend !!!

Thanks for compliments. I sent P.M. to you too. I fixed that little problem with not showing full number of reference file inside display window area (skins - "CORPORATE" and "Flat'n'Simple")

Now, they work perfectly fine. I'm gonna send those to Vlk right now, so he can replace those old ones in skin download section with new ones...

Thanks for your advice ! Read your P.M. box

Cheers !

Mines got the reference file date truncated ...   I downloaded it 9pm UK time today, has it been updated since?

It's the exact same situation with default avast! Blue Panel skin. Those data showing reference file are truncated in that skin too.

As I said earlier in my posts, I fixed all those skins done by me. Actually, it's not the bug, it's just the way that default skin worked, so I thought it's normal behaviour... Anyway, I fixed all my skins, sent them to Vlk, and I really don't know is he going to replace all those skins in download section with these new ones... I hope so...  ::)

Please, remind him, so he'll see that people want skins without that problem... I have them here, ready for uploading !

In the mean time, send me your e-mail address (you can send it to my e-mail), and I'll send you all those fixed versions. I have Hi-speed internet (10.0 Mbps), so it's not gonna be problem to send them fast. The only problem could be your connection... each file is around 300 kb...

Vlk, you see... it's gonna be very big problem if I have to send those 4 skins more than 100 times to every single user. It's easier to upload them in avast skin download section and make them available to users.

Cheers !

I agree. ;) It seems to be affecting others alike too. The new skins work beautifuly!!  ;D

Don't just "ADD" the skins alongside the originals VLK, but "REPLACE" the originals with Sasha's new ones.

That will fix the trunceted REF file. Although it's not a big deal.... appearences are just as important as any other factor of avast.

But, of course, that's your call!  ;D

Best regards!

EDIT: By the way.... interesting new avatar Sasha!  ;D

Avatar... hehe... you should see all the rest... more than 20... today, I feel just like that parrot...  ;D

Cheers !

P.S. All new skins are in the download section already. I just wait for Vlk to upload LCARS-avast skin which by the way, I completely finished today. It's full of moving-data animations, wonderful original LCARS computer sounds and it looks and gives you feeling completely different that the rest of skins...

Cheers !
