Title: password guardian gone?
Post by: nrg1975 on April 05, 2021, 10:21:11 AM
Hi all,

I have a paid sub to Avast Ultimate

Tech support are looking into a few oddities that recently appeared (I have the password icon on browsers but it wont offer to save new ones anymore). The 'add extension option' in browser integration is always there for Avast secure browser and Edge. It  says re-add extension for Chrome. Click on any and it will say success - but the option remains to add or re-add, it never records it as being successfully added. I tried following their guide to remove password (old) and re ticking it but that does not change anything. Also I don't have passwords (old) just passwords.

Anyway that is annoying but I can live with it as the password manager still auto fills existing ones, I just have to manually add new ones. My main question is:

Where did Password Guardian go? It is no longer a tab on any of my PC's that have my subscription active and it was a life saver, telling me of repeated passwords or any leaks / insecure ones. I only recently noticed it is gone. Was that part of an update?

Hi, I think (at least) part of it is covered by Hack Alerts now.

@nrg1975 If you're a Google Chrome user, this may help.
Chrome users who store their passwords in the browser’s built-in password manager will be able to check if their passwords are weak or have been compromised by going to Settings > Passwords > Check passwords > Check Now, or automatically after logging into websites.
Avast also offers BreachGuard > https://www.avast.com/en-us/breachguard
