Title: Virus definitions
Post by: jorymb on April 14, 2021, 04:50:19 PM
I am using the trial of Premium Security.  I looked at the Update feature.  It said in red that virus definitions are not up to date.  It says that the release date was April 14 at 3.42pm.  It is now 3.49pm on April 14, and my PC has been on for over an hour, so I am wondering why Avast has not picked up the lastest definitions.  I'd be grateful for any help.

Thank you.

i've just noticed that Check for Updates is greyed out, so I can't check manually.

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Thanks very much for your help.

When I looked at the Update section of the UI later, the Check for Updates was no longer greyed out, so I was able to update manually.

If the virus definitions are out of date for any reason, would it not be helpful if there was a pop-up warning?  As a new user of Premium Security, I am looking at the various sections of the UI quite often to familiarise myself with the program, but I imagine that confirmed users do not routinely go to the Update section, and would therefore not know that there was a problem.

Apart from this issue, i have been very happy with my trial of Premium Security.
