AAVM - scanning warning: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx [UNI]: C:\Documents and Settings\donaldz\desktop\sd4hide.exe (C:\Documents and Settings\donaldz\desktop\sd4hide.exe) returning error, 00000005.

The 00000005 error is a windows error and = 'Access is denied. ' this could be because it is in use. What is sd4hide.exe that is on your desktop. It might be nothing but worth checking out further.

Windows in its infinite wisdom protects files in use (even malware) or in system folders, so it is likely that avast! can't delete or move files in use. So schedule boot-time scan in avast's menu if you have XP, win2k or NT, otherwise boot into safe mode and run an avast scan. This should ensure that the file isn't in use and avast should be able to deal with it.

If you have XP or Win2k, you could enable a boot time scan. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, Menu, 'Schedule boot-time scan...'

The file itself seems clean...
Are you logged as donaldz user or not? When you login, are this user the Administrator or a common (limited) user?

The only reason I asked is I didn't have a clue what it is or what it does but if you have saved it to the desktop and access is denied it is likely to be in use. If that use is legitimate then no problem.

Further to your posting a link and google search it hides CD drives so blacklisted burners can't be blocked or something to that effect. If that is the case then this action may be what is stopping avast scanning it but that is speculation on my part. Though why you would need this software I don't know and some of the hits on google point to crackz sites.
