Title: Automatic RESTART instead of shutdown?
Post by: SirMrMcDudeGuy on April 21, 2021, 10:55:39 AM
Greetings all, is it possible to configure the client to perform a computer restart instead of a shutdown? I appreciate the ability to shutdown the computer after a scan, but it'd be more useful, personally, if it would restart the computer instead.

Just curious if its possible to accomplish.
Thanks in advance!

There are several ways to do a restart other than having Avast make such an option available for you.

Here are two:

Alt+F4 pressed together, with no windows open on the desktop (they are minimised or closed, save any files before you do this) will show a shutdown option but, if you push the down arrow once, you should see Restart.  (See attached pictures)

I certainly give you my thanks, but I am aware of how to restart my computer weather using keystrokes or just directly via task bar.

I ask about configuring Avast to do a restart because usually the full custom scans take somewhere in the ballpark of 10-15 hours to complete.
I would like to set it before bed and have it completed by the time I return home after my morning errands, or to have it restart to as to facilitate a windows or Avast client update.
Heck, even doing a boot-time scan requires a restart, so that'd be a nifty feature: schedule the boot-time, run a custom scan that then results in a restart, and have it perform both just so it is ensuring some paranoid safety, haha!

I'm pretty tech savvy, but know next to nothing about AV stuff except what conditions to run a scan under.

Does anyone know of a way, within the Avast client, to facilitate a restart instead of a shutdown?
It'd just be rather convenient.

Thanks again for the response, and to any further responses that may be provided! :D
