1. Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
2. What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number?
3. Do you use a firewall? Which one?
4. Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system?
5. Any other security programs that could interfere?

I don't know if this will help, but here there is a step-by-step instruction on how to set up a proxy server:

I USE MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP.
I DID THE PROXY SETTINGS.
In LAN Settings HAS THE ADRESS OF UNIVERSITY PROXY SERVER.(I DONT KNOW THE PORT OF THIS PROXY)
I will add these:
proxy server name: localhost
proxy server port: 12080
or not?

And what i have to do, from the list of redirected ports in webshield's settings:

1)to delete the port 80 or
2)to write there the port of the university proxy server.

Please, avoid CAPS, you're not yelling 8)

No. This works, as explained in the help files and FAQ, to Windows 98 and Me. Not for XP, which does scan the web traffic transparently, without the need to use a local proxy (localhost:12080).

You need to ask to your university network administrator, the IP address and the port number of the proxy server.

Is this a University campus computer or your home computer?
If University campus computer you would need to see the systems administrator at the University to do anything I would guess.
