Title: Browser threats and outdated apps scans bug
Post by: Zoart666 on April 27, 2021, 06:34:50 PM
I tested avast! yesterday which seemed to work fine.

But when I did a smartscan today, it seemed to skip or scan the browser and outdated apps fast. So fast that the button didn't even change to next, only "stop scan" I can close avast and reopen it, which I then can see the next button.

I already tried to repair and reset to default. Which doesn't fix it. I think it might be something with an update?

Even did a format to check it out and installed avast fresh. Same thing, as soon as I do smart scan it seems to skip the browser threat and outdated apps scan.

This is weird seeing that it doesn't happen on another laptop. Might be hardware bound of some sort?

As you can see in the pictures, it skips them at the same time?

After you did the first scan, Avast knows what was scanned.
When you do a smartscan, it only needs to scan changed (new) or accessed files.

After you did the first scan, Avast knows what was scanned.
When you do a smartscan, it only needs to scan changed (new) or accessed files.

This happens on every scan, it skips the browser scan and outdated apps, which it shouldn't do. As you can see in the second screen shot, it immediately goes to malware without hesitation.

And the first screen shot shows that when it does I only have the "stop scan" button, not next. I have to close and reopen avast to push next and see the result.

This is not normal behaviour as I have 2 laptops where it doesn't have this kind of behaviour but they're intel laptops. And one even has an SSD as well, so it's not because it's purely that. So that does point to a big somehow, I already tried default settings, repair, reinstall, format etc. Nothing changed it.

And like I said, 2 different laptops don't have this. They actually scan the browser threats and outdated apps every single time. So there is a definite problem and it's not normal behaviour at all.

Help or recommendation?

But I assume I have to report it somehow?

Still not fixed today

Tried looking in the event viewer, I see no errors. Reliability sees nothing wrong. Tried sfc/ scannow, all seems fine.

So system wise, everything seems fine. But still for some reason he refuses to scan the browser and outdated apps, it immediately skips and is stuck on the screen until I close and reopen.

Created a ticket but only got the file ID: VG4C5

I know. Just had to see if there was any clue at all. But it was bothering me that I didn't see anyone with the problem not the other 2 laptops. But now someone else posted here that has it as well. So now at least I'm somewhat calmed down as it's not limited to my own system

Any update on this? The team contacted me through mail to ask what went on. But no update on the matter so far as I know of.

Hi,

Can you please restart your device and let us know the outcome. It should work for a number of users already.
