Title: AUTOMATIC UPDATES STILL NOT WORKING!!!
Post by: mashedat on February 19, 2007, 08:31:20 PM
Obviously!
I'm not experiencing this poroblem with anything else, just Avast,
which suggests there is something currupt in my Avast installation.
Should i uninstall and reinstall??
Incidently i had to open a new thread because there is no "reply" on the current thread.

I'd say something is blocking the avast.setup process from accessing the Internet.

Please keep everything on this together in your other topic about this.

There is a reply at the bottom of the page.

Edit:
This is your original topic on the same issue, making three on the same thing.

none of these things are working.
I even deleted McAfee Firewall.
This problem began only after inserting the new registration number.

I've tried everything you've suggested until now, 02/20/07 - 1156 PMEST.
Nothing has worked. I presently have no firewall.

Last encountered error: Cannot connect to download10.avast.com (207.44.182.35:80).

I doubt that the process of uninstalling and re-installing will do you any harm.

I also doubt that doing so will make any difference.

Care to prove me wrong?

Before you do so ... could you post the last 100 or so lines of your setup log please.

You haven't asked about reinstall in 'this' topic before, but you did in one of the others and I answered it. This is the very reason we don't like duplicate, triplicate topics on the same problem, it is hard to keep track of what has been asked and answered.

A reinstall won't resolve the problem if your firewall blocks it again.
