Title: Notice to Alwil: company name abuse
Post by: warlock on March 18, 2007, 06:07:50 PM
On this site (change hxxp to http, I changed it so that it doesn't get indexed by search engines), they are selling Utorrent 2007 (which is freeware, so it's definitely scam):
Code: [Select]
hxxp://downloadsglobe.com/utorrent/index.aspIf you look closer at the info displayed there, you will probably notice, they are using your company name as the name of the publisher of the program.

Yes it seems that this claim is indeed true  >:(

Is Alwil going to do something about it ?

There are many of these types of sites selling supposed free versions of software also see here for a number of said sites relating to avast being sold, http://www.avast.com/eng/fraudulent-sales-of-avast-products.html (http://www.avast.com/eng/fraudulent-sales-of-avast-products.html)

Not only are they claiming Alwil as the publisher, they are also on the list as selling avast, so I would like to hope Alwil are taking action.

I'm hoping Alwil will take legal actions immediately, otherwise this could give Alwil a bad name.

Yes if Alwil wants to keep its "good program" reputation intact it should put pressure on the people in power to shutdown the websites.  >:(
