Title: Enormous harddrive usage C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\IDS\outbox
Post by: FredMey on May 17, 2021, 08:03:24 PM
Hi all,

i hope I can get some help with a problem I have with Avast Free Antivirus. Please tell me, if an there is any log I can upload to get some help.

Meanwhile I have about 14 gigs (892 elements) of files and folders in the folder C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\IDS\outbox. Their size is about 16 mb each.
I already know exactly, when they are created. I use my workstation for programming and currently I'm working on a solution for multithreading VBA in Excel. I have as small class code in Excel VBA that can run other sctipts simulaniously by starting them externaly in a CSCRIPTprocess.
Each of this processes now creates one of these temp files in the outbox. And I'm unable to delete them.
It seems they disapear at a rate of one per minute, which does not realy help getting rid of them, because I propably start e.g. 32 processes (in 8 threads) and they finish after 10 seconds.
I can only temporary disable avast to stop that behavior.
Maybe I could exclude the Excel Workbook or the script files (maybe the folder)?
But i would not like to do so until I have some checksum logic on the script files, so they are not manipulated.

Regards
Fred
