Title: Googling something brings up the "Threat Secured" pop up on Chrome
Post by: memers74 on May 18, 2021, 11:50:45 PM
Hi there, folks!

I've been having this problem for awhile now. This happens almost every time I google something. I thought my chrome browser was infected, so I reinstalled chrome entirely-- which worked for a couple hours, but to no avail, its back. If anyone can tell me what this is and how to stop it, I'd appreciate it because I have hella sensitive ears. So, whenever this window pops up, it blows out my ears and scares me, lol! Nothing shows up when scanning my PC, so I'm at a lost.

Here's the threat window pop up:

Since you aren't (apparently) accreset.com directly (or are you), but something is triggering it and trying to run that JavaScript file.

Considered a Critical Security risk on this check - https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/accreset.com - but the actual scan failed, Unable to scan your site. 403 Forbidden.

Some security pointers here - https://webhint.io/scanner/8372715b-57fc-4781-8436-f14b25c111c9 - mainly not using https connection.

These may or may not be why avast is alerting, but the main case is why chrome is trying to make this connection.
I don't use Chrome, so I can't check, but in the past things like this can be from recently added extensions or updated extensions.

I know you have reinstalled it, but that may well restore your extensions from your google account/settings.  Try running Chrome with extensions disabled and see if this happens and or try another browser to run some searches and see if it still happens.
