Title: Error 10022
Post by: assmagica on February 15, 2004, 12:42:49 AM
On startup, I get the following error popups:

"Unable to protect incoming (POP3) mail.  Error 10022"
"Unable to protect incoming (IMAP) mail.  Error 10022"
"Unable to protect outgoing (SMTP) mail.  Error 10022"

This didn't always happen, just in the past week or so.  Maybe something happened during an update?

So no one at ALWIL knows what this problem is?  I'm still getting these errors, even after several updates.

If it can't be fixed and my mail can't be checked for viruses, I guess I'll have to uninstall and use something else.

(I'm using Outlook 2003 on Win XP)

Your using Outlook 2003?
Cool, then just disable the avast Internet mail service and that's it. Outlook is handled separately, by the Outlook/Exchange plugin.

Go to Start -> avast Antivirus -> Mail Protection Wizard, and choose Remove protection from all my accounts.

BTW do you see the avast splash screen when starting Outlook? If not, make sure avast is not listed in the Disabled Items field, accessible from within Outlook About box...

Thanks
Vlk

But you can use Internet Mail provider for MS Outlook too right? Or you can use only Outlook/Exchange provider?

If it's used to pop mail using POP3/IMAP4 (in opposite to Exchange Server), then yes. But I recommend against it - the Outlook provider is much more flexible. And the Mail Protection Wizard does not support Outlook, so you'd have to set it up manually.

Did you ever get a solution to your problem. I am having the same thing and can't connect to my ISP mail server with Outlook Express.
