Title: Greedy Avast won't block their own non-stop ads
Post by: shaunfrompa on May 29, 2021, 04:08:43 PM
I purchased Avast Premium Security just over 30 days ago. It was great at first (the very beginning of a 2 year subscription). I had just purchased a new laptop. My factory installed MacAfee was not as fast detecting 2 potential threats during it's trial period, so I decided to pay for Avast Premium Security. But, thanks to their manipulative marketing, I subscribed to Avast Premium Security with around 7 days left in my free trial. They continued to bombarded me with warnings and scary, life-altering possibilities such as insecure online banking and having my personal information exposed online. All to make me pay for their protection; however, Avast was ALREADY PROTECTING my computer!!! I agreed to a 30 day free trial of Avast antivirus software. I then paid for a 2 year contract subscription.  Avast did not honor the 30 days trial. They canceled it as soon as they got my money and started the countdown on my 2 year contract. I requested a refund online, but no response. I called, but their phone system hangs up every time I press option 3 for a refund. I would like you to be a decent, not deceitful, company, and honor your 30 day trial by starting my 2 year subscription when our trial period ends. I do not remember seeing an * stating "30 day free trial, unless you give us money - then no more free trial". Now I have antivirus with a few basic features, with relentless free scans and ads coercing me to subscribe to all of your products. You gave me AdBlock.  I want your company to block your own ads (via the Avast app). By the way, when I was finally disgusted with your greedy tricks, I looked up McAfee's information. MCAFFE IS CHEAPER WITH A FREE VPN. I thought your VPN was included; otherwise, I wouldn't' have purchased your Ad+antivirus. Nothing you offer is included. Stop showing me scary ads and computer scans telling me I'm in danger unless i pay you more money..... That should be illegal.

Disappointed Avast Subscriber

You can disable the ads in the paid versions: Avast GUI -> Settings -> Personal Privacy
