Post by: yopdens on May 31, 2021, 11:08:31 PM
This is the 2nd time this shit is installed on my computer without my consent!!  >:( >:( >:(

How can I tell to your system TO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING WITHOUT MY CONSENT ?!!  I DON'T WANT SECURE LINE AT ALL!!

Also, STOP to CHANGE PARAMETERS on update!!

Using the Custom install would probably help.

It's not happend during install.  Avast is installed on my computer for many years.  This happen during the periodic updates.

My computer restarts automatically with a notice that my Avast has been updated and Secure Line has been installed automatically.

Not anything I've ever seen but, I use SecureLine.
I've reported your concern to Avast let's see if that gets you a reply.

SecureLine VPN is a paid product, so shouldn't install out of the blue.

However, as Bob mentions he hasn't seen anything like that an neither have  I.

I use Avast Free and haven't seen this in the antivirus updates, but even in program updates you may be offered alternative products, so just dismissing the What's New UI Pop Up, could have underlying pre-selected options.

As far as I know you can get a 7 day free trial of the Avast SecureLine VPN (typically this is after running the Smart Scan), but you normally need to complete a payment form for after the 7 day trial.  So I don't know what is going on here, hopefully Bob reporting it will find some answers.

Hi,
could you be more specific about the platform? To my knowledge, Avast Security doesn't install the other products by itself. What it does is that during the purchase of one product, it installs and activates all products contained in the license. So if you had already purchased the SecureLine and bought a subscription i.e. for the Clean up, it would install both products. I'm not fine with this behaviour but I cannot influence it.

Secure line is ONLY a paid product if you try to connect to an avast server. You can install the software without paying. I am not sure why it's auto-installing, but the software can be installed without paying for it.

I can only leave this in the hands of 'krahulik', an avast team member, please respond to his post.

I wonder if the person is using a laptop? I say this because almost all laptops come with the touchpad tapping enabled. All it takes is a slight tap on the touchpad as the right moment to cause this to happen. Also even on some desktop systems, the mouse can be set to be really sensitive. I have installed Avast many times and never seen it self-install anything without asking first.
