Post by: rotcoddam on February 17, 2004, 04:58:16 AM
...on my win98se with ie6. Could it be a setting in my system? I log in,but when I try to reply it says I'm not logged in. Works fine on my laptop with XP. TIA

rc,

This can be caused by an incorrect setting of the computer clock or date.
Go to the system tray and check that it is correct.

This can also occur if you are blocking cookies with a filter, or the setting of IE6.
You can adjust the cookie setting in IE6 in the Tools/Internet Options/Privacy tab

Thank you. yes, somehow the clock was on the year 2014. I need to check my eyes. Well maybe at 45 it's time to get glasses. Dread.

rc,

Why the glasses?  ;)
I got you beat by years and I still don't need um.  :o

Take Care.  Glad I could help.
If you have any little "rug rats" around.....keep um clear of the putter.  They have a habit of changing things.

Mac,

Never heard of Fool Proof.  Is it freeware?  The site really only mentioned a key for the demo.

They should have had some screenshots.

Anyway, thanks for the info.  I have found Winsecure to be effective also.  But it will burn a hole in your screen if it is left on too long.

it is really good software. worth every penny! there are 6 versions:
windows 95
windows 98/ME/NT
windows 2000
Windows XP
Mac OS 7.5.5-9.2.2
Mac OS X

$50 for a CD contaning all 6 versions and the unlock codes for each version so if you upgrade windows you dont have to buy agian.

email them and they will give you a demo key good for 60 days
if you just try it you will be amazed with it

My elementary, middle, and high school had this installed on EVERY computer. I Like it because they have a Mac version  :)

Yeah, if I remember correctly, Techie101 speaks from experience on this subject.  It had a lot of us baffled for a while there.

Culpeper,

Sure did!  Made me crazy for awhile until I figured it out.  Now, I find that the incorrect clock setting has an effect on many things which are time dated.

I wonder if an incorrect clock could have an affect on updates that compare time stamps.....hummmmm.

Oh well,  we'll have to keep that one in mind.
