Title: BlackJack Website
Post by: Geoff83 on April 24, 2007, 07:24:06 PM
I'm having problems getting onto the BlackJack tables on GameAccount.com and it seems to be just since I changed from Norton to Avast. This has happened on 2 different machines so I doubt it's just a coincidence.

The website works fine but when I open the Flash game window, it displays a 'connecting to server...' messages, then 'operation timed out'. It keeps trying but never manages to connect.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried the sites customer support but they don't have any.

Thanks,

Geoff

You probably have remnants or Norton left, or your firewall might be blocking.

A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039)

Since I changed from Norton to Avast
1) Remove NAV through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot.
2) Use Symantec removal tool following the three steps defined in the SymNRT (http://download.betanews.com/download/1125124391/Norton_Removal_tool.exe) tool info or here (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&src=&docid=2001092114452606&nsf=nav.nsf&view=docid&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=).
3) Boot.
4) Install avast! Boot.
5) See what you get.

The website works fine but when I open the Flash game window, it displays a 'connecting to server...' messages, then 'operation timed out'. It keeps trying but never manages to connect.
If you disable WebShield, will it work?

So you disabled/terminated the Web Shield and it still doesn't work ?

That is the only thing that could have any interaction with web http port 80 traffic.
What browser are you using  and have you tried another ?

You say there is no site support for gameaccount.com, do they have a user forum for gamers, etc. ?

What is your firewall ?
Does it have any active content scanning or plug-in that might have any impact ?
