Title: false positive for our app, no response since July 3
Post by: appyhapps.nl on July 06, 2021, 07:25:17 PM
For our app Tonal Tinnitus Therapy on Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.appyhapps.tinnitusmassage)  since last week Avast notifies users that there is malware detected. The app doesn't have any malware as far as we know. The same app on Huawei AppGallery is detected as safe to use. AVG also notified last week that there was malware, but after our false positive verification request AVG updated the app status and AVG no longer calls it malicious.

We did a false positive verification request on July 3 to Avast on the site https://www.avast.com/en-gb/false-positive-file-form.php We did not get any response yet. We did the false positive verification again on July 5, still no response. We did a white listing request on July 6, because we are desperate. Users are getting confused, they should be able to trust Avast. If there is a kind of malware in the app, please let us know. But we checked it again and we think that app is clean. There is no other anti virus detection app that shows a malicius status for our app. We checked it on https://www.virustotal.com/ and on https://metadefender.opswat.com/

Avast has so much power, just by calling an app malicious. But it is doing so much harm to our users. It is not too much to ask that a false positive is checked quickly and that there is contact with the app developer? Please check the app status and let us know if there is a serious problem.

Don't know if this forum post helped, but shortly after the post we received a message from Avast that the reputation status of our app was cleared. So we are happy again. Although we are alarmed that it can take up to four days for a false positive to be processed.
