Thanks for the new release :)

Bug fixes and improvements for:
  • The latest renderer version stopped supporting CPUs with SSE2, so we needed to add an install block and freeze users using this older pieces of HW on 21.4 version
Is it really with SSE2? IIRC support for non-SSE2 CPUs were stopped long time ago (v10.4 or so).

Exactly what I was thinking.

Plus many CPUs still have SSE2 (and earlier instruction sets) plus SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, etc. etc.
Clarification is required as technically many CPUs still have SSE2.

Hi.

- virus chest was not renamed to guarantee if you right click to taskbar icon (CZ language).
- new GUI seems bit slower then before.
- Avast still not notify me about new version if "Ask when an update is available" is set.
- where is firewall in free version mentioned in beta?

First CPU's to support SSE3 (so, ones that would still run avast! no issues) were released back in 2004-2005, specifically Intel Pentium 4 using 90nm process (Prescott). This is actually far back unlike BS restrictions of Windows 11 that make 3 years old CPU's look useless for some dumb reason. Can't really be mad with this one as it's pretty reasonable decision.

Hi, Firewall is not yet enabled as a free feature with 21.6, it still needs a bit more testing. Plus roll-out, that will most probably start with the 21.7 version will be continuous and spread over several weeks - it won't be available to all free users at the same time.

Cool. Didn't think free version will get the firewall. What will be the limitations in the free version compared to firewall in paid versions?

A better question would be what does it do that the windows firewall doesn't as essentially that is its 'free' competition :)

I noticed new taskbar Notificaton (blue dot) since updating to 21.6.2474 (build 21.6.6446.561) earlier today.
Notifications were 4 duplicates of wifi scans listed with same time stamp.
I was not expecting any wifi scans at all, as have none scheduled nor did I manually invoke one.
What is going on?

See screenshot attached:

Does Avast's firewall protect both inbound and outbound?  Does it have the function of you to make your PC ports invisible from hackers?

Hi,
Do you know if and when the "new" display disappears from the UI?
Usually, once the new item is consulted, the "new" display disappears.
Here, the information about "Secure Browser" (although installed for a long time) does not disappear while it has disappeared for "VPN" and "Cleanup", see my screenshot 1.

On the other hand , "new" disappears on my 2 devices where Secure Browser is not installed (screenshot 2) but not on my 2 where it is installed

I also notice that some parts of the UI are not translated, e.g. "Need more privacy?Check out our other apps" or "Need more performances?Check out our other apps" are still in English (with French UI)....Screenshot 1 & 2

edit:I can't post the 2nd screenshot, it makes this topic blocked

Installed the new release today, and all is well except for the Notifications tab in Settings. It never loads. It constantly has "Loading" in the middle of it. I've tried repairing the installation and even doing a fresh installation. The issue persists.

Update: Forgot to mention that I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64 (Build 20H2), and I've attached an image of the issue.

Hello,
does anyone notice a slowdown in the opening phase of Chrome that takes a few seconds to open especially the first time after starting the PC?
If I'm not mistaken it was a problem related to Avast Free but I don't know if it has been solved.

I'm not sure 7-Zip has an Explorer context menu Icon - there isn't on on my system - and I'm still lounging around on avast free version 21.5.2470 (build 21.5.6354.680).

"Need more privacy?Check out our other apps" or "Need more performances?Check out our other apps" are still in English (with French UI)....Screenshot 1 & 2

edit 2:finally OK for capture 2  ;)
The "new" information has disappeared and the translation has been done.
However, a new bug has appeared: there is now the information avast antitrack premium "installed" even if it is not. But avast is already informed

There is no fixed schedule, only when the beta testing is completed would it be released.  Then it isn't released immediately to everyone, with hundreds of millions of users it is released over a period of time to balance server load.

If you are monitoring the forums when you see it released you can do a manual program update if you don't want to wait for the update cycle.

Is it really with SSE2? IIRC support for non-SSE2 CPUs were stopped long time ago (v10.4 or so).

The problem is SSE3. My single-core CPU does not have it. I need an earlier AVAST version. I understand 21.3 is good.

Up for renewal but checking new minimum system requirements my computer is not compatible.  Is there a fix of must I drop Avast?

My computer is AVX NOT SSE3 per minimum system requirements:
Dell  INSPIRON N7110    Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2330M CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz    4.00 GB (3.90 GB usable)
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor    No pen or touch input is available for this display.

Hi, no need to drop Avast, an i3 should support SSE3.
