Title: Can't log in to Windows XP after install
Post by: jmacdonald801 on May 06, 2003, 03:28:48 AM
Well I just installed the latest Avast Home.  And after I restarted I can not longer log in under any account.  When I enter my password and hit enter it momentary sais Loading Personal Settings.... then says saving settings momentarily and goes back to waiting for me to enter a password.

Nice.  I love this.

Please help.

Do you have any other AV program installed on the machine? Have you ever had Norton installed on the machine? Do you use firewall? If yes, which?

90% of such troubles are caused by conflicting low-level programs. Unfortunately, these are usually very hard to resolve.

To work around the problem, you need to boot into the Safe Mode (by pressing F8 before the start-up XP screen appears) and uninstall avast from there.

Sorry - and please give us the answers to the questions above.

Thanks
