Title: Avast a & i icons spin intermittently

HI new boy (man) here.  I have used Avast for the last 3 or so months and have to say I very impressed with it compared to Panda and Norton.  I have just done a new XP install and noticed that the two Avast icons do not constantly spin only intermittently say for instance when I fire up a new IE page.

I'm sure on my old install both icons would constantly spin.  Is there some thing wrong with my Avast?  Is it protecting me properly?

Your Avast works like it should, the symbol only spins when Avast is scanning something, like when you open a program or use IE.

The 'i' icon is for the VRDB and that is probably best merged with the main 'a' icon as the VRDB doesn't run all the time only at intervals when it is updating the VRDB database depending on how you choose to update it.

Thanks for the replies chaps.  I suspected the icons only spin when something is being scanned although before I did a fresh install I never really noticed what they did or didn't do, so thanks for clearing that up.

If you let the mouse pointer over the 'a' blue icon, how many providers are available and how many are active?
