Title: Avast 4.7 Home/AT&T Yahoo Browser conflict
Post by: 321QAZ on August 05, 2007, 07:30:14 PM
With the latest version 3 AT&T Yahoo browser homepage up, type anything in the address box or search box and it takes 15 seconds per letter for each letter to appear in the box. Revert to version 2 of the browser, switch to IE 6.02, or enter safe mode, letters appear as normal. AT&T support says if it's good in safe mode I have a conflict with a program and probably your anti-virus program. "Not AT&Ts problem".

So... back in normal mode, I uninstall Avast Home 4.7, bring up the version 3 AT&T Yahoo browser and the letters appear as they should. Reinstall Avast Home 4.7 and the letters still appear as normal. FIXED...or so I thought. Try it the next morning and I'm back to slow as molassis letters.

No email problems. Click on links on the AT&T Yahoo homepage and they connect as normal. AT&T support (level 2) had me clear cache and cookies, uninstall and reinstall the browser, reset security settings to defaults, did not help.  Never installed the AT&T anti-virus program. I'm using a Dell Dimensions desktop, 2.4 gig cpu, 512 mb memory. Any suggestions besides using another browser?
