Title: About Aavst! HOME v4.7 functions
Post by: chinhis13 on August 14, 2007, 10:40:47 PM
Hi.
I wanna ask is that this version protects our PCs being harmed from malware, spyware, and attacks(ip)?
Is there a need to download some other softwares to protect my PC?
(like firewall, spyware doctor..etc.)

Thanks very much.

I would definitely suggest a multilayered approach (clickable names)

Anti-virus - Avast
Anti-Spyware - SuperAntispyware  (http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE)
                     SpywareBlaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)

Whilst avast does detect a number of adware and spyware infections, it isn't a specialist anti-spyware/adware program, so a specialist tool will improve overall detection rate and give a multi-layer/application approach to security as essexboy mentions.

Some others:
1.  If using winXP AVG anti-spyware (formerly Ewido) (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/) Resident scanner during trial On-Demand after trial ends. Or Spyware Terminator (http://www.spywareterminator.com/) Resident scanner.
Care should be taken not to have two resident anti-spyware products installed at the same time, the free version of SAS provides on-demand protection so avg-as and or Spyware Terminator could be installed with it.
2. Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition (http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Ad-Aware/adaware.html)
3. Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download)

All of the above work with avast.
