Title: Help please
Post by: Tsukiomi on August 23, 2007, 06:31:18 AM
I had to get a new hard drive today and I had Avast already but as a backup AV.

I am not using Norton in exchange for Avast as my main AV protector. What should I know and do to make this very efficient?

My windows defender says it is not on.

Running 2 AV programs  is a recipe for a multitude of incapability Issues/problems
Using the Search function on this forum will supply the details you require.
My advice would be to remove Nortons and go with Avast.
Please research the correct removal procedures if you decide to remove Nortons??

as tednelly said-having 2 resident programs on your computer at same time-they will conflict....

Which is your main AV, active and resident? Norton? ???
Disabling is not enough to avoid conflict between Norton and avast.
