Title: Unable to connect, Outlook and Shareazaa ?
Post by: goa103 on May 09, 2003, 07:53:31 AM
Hi,

I am not sure that it has anything to do with Shareazaa but since I installed that P2P software, I got an error from the Outlook Add-in:

"Avast: Unable to connect to the Avast engine.
Avast mail protection cannot be started."

Then Outlook crashed and when it restarts I get:

"Outlook experienced a serious error the last time the add-in '...avast4\ashoutxt.dll' was opened. Would you like to disable
this add-in?
..."

So I have to disabled the add-in in order to launch Outlook. I shut Shareazaa down, now Outlook works but I think that the Avast add-in has been disabled... I am not sure about it, Its checkbox is checked in the Add-in manager but I don't get the loading screen anymore when I launch Outlook.

How can I activate the add-in again ?
Do you have any clue about what caused that error ? I thought of a port/socket conflict between Avast and Shareazaa...

Thanks.

JM,

I need more info: what OS are you using? What version of avast? What version of Outlook? What version of Shareazaa?

Thanks
