CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME AFTER I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE AVAST SOFTWARE ONTO MY COMPUTER AND REGISTERED IT, HOW DO I RUN A SCAN TO TEST FOR VIRUSES?

Firstly it is considered shouting to use ALL CAPS on the internet, I'm not to sure what you mean by the subject, which is best used to give a brief indication of the question.
e.g. How do I run a scan to test for viruses.'
These are harmless anti-virus program test files.

Web Shield Test - http://www.eicar.org/download/eicar.com (http://www.eicar.org/download/eicar.com), just click this link, avast should give an audible and visual alert.
email virus test:

Like David, I did not quite understand your question. But, I am guessing you want to start a scan of your computer's harddrive(s). If this is so, please double left click the avast! icon on your desktop(screen) and follow the directions.

You can also right-click the blue "a" icon in the toolbar(bottom right of screen) and left-click "Start avast Antivirus".
