Title: URL:TechScam
Post by: Sheila67 on September 25, 2021, 01:13:24 AM
Good evening. Chrome will not open in my Windows 10 laptop. I did a deep scan and Avast says I have URL:TechScam malware and it is unable to remove it. Is this a real virus? Could this be causing Chrome to crash/not open? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome and still have the same problem.

Maybe try a manual scan with Malwarebytes.

However, I suggest you turn off all the real-time components of Malwarebytes, when installed alongside Avast.

The detection is an AVG inheritage. They had a history of this sometimes being an FP.
Whether this is also the case here, one should hear from avast team.
If you have visited a typo-squatting website, detection is genuine.
