Title: Virus definitions fail to update
Post by: Alison59 on September 30, 2021, 10:16:32 PM
I'm running Avast Free Antivirus on a Windows 10 machine. According to the Avast Update page, the application is up to date:
   "Release date was September 14, 2021, 12:07 PM (ver. 21.8.2487 - build 21.8.6586.693)"

However, when I try to update the virus definitions, I see the message "Installing virus definitions" for a few seconds, and then the error message "Virus definitions are not up to date".

I've tried this many times, and have rebooted the computer and tried again, but it keeps failing. I've also tried switching from Automatic update to Manual update and unchecking Enable streaming update, but these didn't help.

How do I get my Avast to update its definitions?

Have you tried an Avast Repair ?
AvastUI > Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > Repair APP - Restart after completion.
