Title: What has happened to Wi-Fi Inspector scans?

I went to Protection and clicked on W-Fi Inspector.  All I was offered was a picture of an orange tent with stars above in a dark night sky.  What is going on?

It appears to be working as expected on my system with and avast version in my signature.

However you don't say which one of your systems/avast versions this is with  ?

You are still on an old version of avast on the windows 7/8/10 installations in your signature.

Hi guys, just tested it, the tent shows up when you're not connected to the net.

Yep, but the text above the tent explains it as well (at least in the German UI). ;)
