Well i'll be happy to any new features in GMail. Although i'd prefer the most a feature similar to Yahoo's briefcase, so you can easily store files in your space using web service (pretty much like Live SkyDrive and FreeDrive does).

Not really. This is just a hack. I can just as well do that by sending an email with attached file to my own email (resulting in file being stored directly into GMail). I'd prefer some more direct folder and file managing...

If you find a free service, please, let us know.
Mozy is the best on-line backup (storage) service, but you can't browse, drag-and-drop, synchronize files...

Well, so far i know only 3 good ones. First one has unlimited space but it's a public one (FileFront - unlimited/unlimited). Other two are FreeDrive (6GB/1GB per month) and Live.com SkyDrive (500MB/unlimited). These two are both private or public if you want, but FreeDrive has larger capacity but limited bandwidth, SkyDrive is smaller but no bandwidth limits.

After all limitations, free, private, unlimited/unlimited Mozy is the best for me... Wishing I find anything better for backup purposes. Xdrive is from AOL, we can't get registered. SkyDrive is not available outside US (?).

You can change/customize a lot of things with Gmail now, including the interface. If anyone is not familiar with the Firefox extension "Better Gmail", you can read about it here:

I'm quite a gmail fan, especially since it would run so smoothly and quickly even when I only had a dial up connection. Additional changes/features can be good as long as they don't take away the things that we love  ;D.

Gmail's Storage Increases, 6 GB in January 2008

...Gmail will increase the free storage gradually in the next days. On October 23, you'll get 4321 MB of storage, then the growth will slow down until January 4, when you'll have 6283 MB of storage. From January 4, you'll receive 3.3 MB every day, that's 10 times bigger than the current rate of growth...

I LOVE gmail.

I tested yahoo mail, hotmail, adpost, mailup and even paid email accounts but nothing compares to gmail. Plus the chat feature is really cool. No software required to start chatting with people.

:)

Bob, you're always ahead of me... I'm always behind  :'( :'(
Why? Is there any reason for Google to give you more space than the others?

Tech,
I really don't know outside of the fact that I use a lot of Google's services. :)

That seems to be the key of the mystery...

Does anybody know how GMail process the 'Report Spam' button.
Besides moving the message to Spam folder, is it any info send to Google servers to improve Spam detection?

That was the question I've been asking myself for the last few months... it simply kills me that I have no clue what is happening because as soon as you mark it as SPAM, Gmail sends it to your SPAM folder... but, that very same second you can go to your SPAM folder and wipe out all emails... does Gmail really do anything more than just sending it to SPAM folder ? I mean, if not... then there is not much of a gain. Same SPAM mails will visit your inbox again in no time...

If they really send those mails somewhere to improve SPAM detection, then IMHO they should have included some kind of notification or something, so you know when your emails are processed and you can finally wipe them out from your inbox.

The SPAM button sends the mail to "SPAM" folder and also sends the data of that mail to Google team.
It's very likely that that type of mail will get blacklisted soon and will go to SPAM folder automatically. However this isn't instant as you are probably used to from local mail clients. It takes some time for this thing to start working. So far i got only 2 or 3 spam mails into my inbox.
Thats impressive :)

I have my spare Gmail account that I created few months ago (4-5). I never posted it anywhere on the internet, nor I gave it to my friends and/or coworkers. I just use it to communicate with my folks in Europe. I am sure that's the reason I never ever received even one single SPAM mail. My other account that I use for everyday communication with my friends is full of SPAM, but GMAIL is doing a wonderful job filtering and marking it as SPAM.

Well, my email is somehow intentionally fully public. The more spam i get, the better filtering ;) Inbox is always clean (except those 2 or 3 in don't know how many years of service, 2 i think). Spam folder is however always filled hehe. But i don't care. Spam mails older than 30 days are flushed automatically and they don't consume my space :)

Thanks RejZoR. I suppose you're absolutely sure about this info.

That's the experience I've had with Gmail.  I also have very little spam in my actual inbox and as you can see from the stats I've posted,
I've saved quite a bit of mail.
I have nothing but nice things to say about Gmail and Google in general.  :)

Yes, me too... Gmail is the most reliable webmail I have ever used and I plan to use it forever... well, until they shut it down  ;D

Running to work... don't want to be late  :)  ;D

Spam does consume your space but who cares for space these days.
