Title: Avast stops clock synchronization
Post by: xyzzy on October 21, 2007, 11:13:40 PM
XP SP2 Home, Avast Home 4.7.1043, Windows Firewall

I can synchronize clock only when I stop Avast protection services. What setting should I make for the synchronization to work without stopping Avast?

Which tool are you using to synchronize your clock?
The Windows internal one uses port 443 if I'm not wrong. avast should have nothing to be with this port...
Can you give us more info?

As Tech said avast shouldn't get in the way as the web shield only monitors HTTP traffic and this would be using a different protocol.

I have just synchronised my clock using a little program called About Time and no problems there as it doesn't use port 80. I don't use the windows synchronisation, what are you using ?

Hello!

I used standard Windows Date&Time applet from Control Panel. Now I checked and it seems to work with Avast on.
The only thing that's really different was that before PC was running a few days without reboot- so maybe really some Windows glitch related to long period without reboot (?).

Thanks for the update, I couldn't see how avast could get in the way of time sync.

Do you use any firewall?
