Is it possible to remove the "Scan 'File'" option from the context menu completely? I can't seem to find an option for it within the UI and I can't seem to find this being discussed here before. I have another system I use for scanning individual files and would prefer to keep my context menu as clean as possible. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Program Files (right click the avast 'a' icon), Common tab, Show Explorer Extension icon.

The icon - yes; the whole context menu option - no.
You may try to remove the avast! shell extension from registry, but it's possible that avast! setup will put it back during a program update, for example.

Thanks for the update Igor, does it make sense not to also remove the context menu entry as well as the icon when that option is selected ?
-
Well, that option always was just about the icon in the contect menu (i.e. a purely cosmetic change - as somebody seemed not to like the icon); it wasn't meant to remove the Explorer Extension completely.
-
Yes, but don't you think that it should be more than just removing the icon or having the option to remove the explorer extension ?
Personally I can't see the purpose in just removing an icon as many people want to keep the context menu under control, rather than simply removing icons.

Context Menu Editor will remove it completely.
Take care, there is no backup option, once done, done forever, at least avast regenerate the entry.

That is why it would be handy to have the option in avast so it might be restored.
