Title: AAVM - scanning error
Post by: cdplayer on November 21, 2007, 08:02:19 AM
This all started cause Spysweeper cries everyday stating that there was a problem in the previous session. I took a look today in the Event View under Antivirus and discovered this notation:

AAVM - scanning error: x_AavmCheckFileDirectEx: avfilesScanReal of C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\Masters\masters.mst failed, 00000005.

Maybe this is the reason some applications don’t always startup correctly like Spysweeper.  Is there a way to put this problem to rest?

Thanks!

Well the windows error 5 = Access is denied. So it looks like SpySweeper is either protecting that file or possibly folder.

If you do a search for masters.mst http://www.google.com/search?q=masters.mst (http://www.google.com/search?q=masters.mst), you will see lots of hits relating to access denied. I think that file has something to do with the signatures, so it may be worth excluding that file from scanning, the decision is yours. But, there should be no additional impact as the file can't be scanned because access is denied.

Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add and
Program Settings, Exclusions

Add this path.
C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\Masters\masters.mst
Or C:\*\Spy Sweeper\Masters\masters.mst using the wildcard * to shorten the path.

Thank you DavidR for replying  8)!

I understand what you are suggesting but I am having a problem adding this exclusion within Spy Sweeper (SS). I go SS SHIELD there is a  Custom Sweep Settings Change Settings
When I enter that area I see where I can place a file type to be excluded, nothing more.
What am I missing ??? BTW I am using the latest version of SS.

Sorry...

The exclusion isn't in spysweeper, but avast, to stop it scanning masters.mst.
