Title: How to disable AvastUI.log logging
Post by: defza on January 31, 2022, 12:48:22 PM
Hi,

When I monitor disk activity with procmon, I see that AvastUI.exe writes to C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\AvastUI.log a lot...

Is there anyway to turn this logging off?
Perhaps I should just change permissions on the file so that it can't be written to?

I notice it is filling the log file with notice, info and warnings [swhealth_ui]  asw::swu_ui::SoftwareHealthScanner::Initialize   ... connecting service controller ... Failed to initialize: Rpc call failed  SoftHealth_State failed (1753)

Perhaps it's because it is offline with no wifi. But in this case, it means being offline causes disk activity unncessarily.

The laptop has a slow HDD, so every hit counts, I would like to reduce the load on the disc.

I just set the AvastUI.log file to Read-Only via Right Click -> Properties in Windows File Explorer.

This seems to have worked and reduced disk load and increased machine performance.
