Hi Everyone
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
I have a little problem I hope someone can help.
My daughter's boyfriend bought a Dell notebook with
wireless card built in.
We have a computer which has Comcast Cable connection.
The laptop was not getting connection to the Internet even
when it has the built-in wireless card.
My daughter's boyfriend bought a card and I connected it to
his laptop and made a network. It got connected. I took the
card away and it still got connected.
I then bought a Gateway notebook with wireless built in too.
My laptop didn't get connection. It gave me a few wireless
connections available. It gave me "Snickers" an unsecured connection
and the one network I had made with the other laptop.
When I clicked on that one it asked me for the security key or passphrase.
I realized I had not written a passphrase.
Now I cant get connected.
How can I undo the network and make a new one?
Thanks a lot,
Haydee
I then connected a linksys wireless router to the main computer
to send signal to the laptop

Did you turn on the Wifi switch on the laptop?
They all have one and are usually set to the off position.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for answering.
The instructions said to press Fn and F2 to turn the wireless network on or off.
Then the status indicator ( a little antenna)appears on the bar below the touch pad.
Is that what you mean?

How can I undo the network and make a new one?
Hi haydee, I take it that you mean the router? If so most routers have a small button on the back to press (usually with the tip of a ball point pen). This will reset the router to factory defaults. Hope this helps, tim

What I mean is this;
I installed a router to the desktop computer and I made a network
adding the two laptops. I added the first laptop and it connected well.
When I added the second laptop it gave me the wireless network
available. One was the Snicker unsecured on and the second was the
one I had created "Chiapas" which shows to be secured.
I clicked on that one and clicked connect. It then appeared a box
asking for the security key or passphrase.
I don't remember setting a passphrase so I cant get connection.
That's why I ask how I can delete or undo the first home network
and begin from 0. I mean to start making the home network with the three computers.
I hope I explained this mess clearly ???

I think that this way is better said.
I want to undo a home network installed to share an Internet connection
among three computers ( one desktop and two laptops) and make it again.

Open the router's administration tool. From the computer connected to the router, first open your Web browser. Then enter the router's address for network administration in the Web address field and hit return to reach the router's home page.
Many routers are reached by either the Web address "http://192.168.1.1" or "http://192.168.0.1" Consult your router's documentation to determine the exact address for your model. Note that you do not need a working Internet connection for this step.
http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworking/ht/routerconfigure.htm (http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworking/ht/routerconfigure.htm)
You can configure the network from there. Change the passphrase and make a note of it. If you can't change it, reset the router as timcan suggested.
Sounds to me like "Snickers" is your neighbours' unsecured network, and your laptop may have connected to that.
