Title: avast - Bart CD - Core Initialization failed error
Post by: mdtx001 on November 28, 2007, 07:23:22 PM
I downloaded the avapps.zip file and installed it to a flash drive. It contains multiple utilities for spyware, malware and virus removal, including avast Antivirus.   I am trying to run the avast application and receiving the following error message: "Core initialization failed with error code: Unknown error."

Has anyone else received this error and know how to resolve?

avast! Antivirus, included in this package, is certainly not an official copy. It's a very old release, stolen from some BART CD demo (the included license file expired somewhen in 2003). So, there's no wonder it can't be started, and I don't think you can do anything about it.

That's too bad.  I really like Avast, but our corporate standard is McAfee.  I liked the idea of installing and running from the memory stick.  Avast often catches things that McAfee has let slip through.

Try to persuade your network staff to buy BART CD as a corporate solution 8)
