Since my big issue is essentially solved, I now have a small one. This is what occurred:
For a couple of months, I have been unable to reset my Avast Account Password through the normal channels. Using my Hotmail, either in Firefox or Microsoft Edge, would not work with the link Avast sends to my email. The link sends me to the page, of which I have attached a screenshot, instead. It is a cruel little loop. The page shows a castaway sailor holding a compass. In bold print is written 'Sorry, we cannot find that webpage', and below that it says 'the only thing left here is to return to the beginning of the account', and shows the link below for the Avast Accounts Home Page. This is not a spoof. It is an Avast web page. It has taken two weeks to get some real help. I tried Customer Support. Gave them the info, and screenshot. I never heard anything back. Tonight, I was able to get through to Avast Technical Support. He and I went back and forth, and he suggested that it might be the browser. As a last resort, I installed the Avast Secure Browser, copied and pasted the 'Reset Password' link from my email, and pasted it in the address line of the Avast Secure Browser. Voila! Took me right to the right page, so here I am. Now I am at the ongoing issue and there is only one thing further I am wondering about ???... In the new version of Premium, in the Firewall extension, there are four links: 1) Apps; 2) Networks; 3) Logs; and 4) Premium. Now, do the Premium menu choices cause interrupts in secure link operations? I am curious...
