- Other security related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?

Given your image, Avast's memory use is moderate added together it comes a little over100MB

I also see BraveSoftware Update and the (32 bit entry), which is also low. However if there was a software update in process this could cause a spike in Avast CPU activity and possible memory usage.  When RAM is high order the Task Manager by RAM usage and see just what is the highest user.

The biggest culprit for memory usage on my system is my browser Firefox, the more tabs open the more RAM used.  I only have 8GB of RAM on this system and it doesn't often get what I would call high 75-80% or higher.

RAM is there to be used, it speeds up your system, by not having to constantly move data out of memory into the pagefile.

How much RAM is on your system ?

Yes Brave also uses a lot of my RAM (around 1GB), I have 8GB of RAM I also posted the specs above on the first post

Good point Dave, can't see/find any issue either (referencing the screenshot).

Still I don't know why does it have multiple same processes, maybe it's a bug

Nope, that's normal.

Weird, I used Kaspersky and Malwarebytes and they have only one process like this https://uploads-eu-west-1.insided.com/kaspersky-en/attachment/7f535b5f-55ed-427f-8979-c849b6d654d0.png

Yes its normal.  Its called multi-tasking, rather than one process doing multiple tasks.

Just check how many processes are used by your browser, also see my second image and firefox is using 11 processes grouped together.  Currently it is using 10 processes grouped together.

Yes multi tasking at work, long gone are the days of one or two processes for your browser.

You must have a lot of tabs open as in Firefox usually it equates to one per tab plus a couple.

I don't actually I only have a couple of tabs open, I don't know why Brave uses so much RAM now and it didn't before

I have never used the Brave browser, so I couldn't begin to think why this would result in such a high number of processes (something for the Brave forum perhaps).

Given its privacy credentials, I don't know if these privacy functions/extensions could be reason for all of these running processes.
