Title: 'Allow' app in Firewall in Avast One
Post by: ccm582 on March 09, 2022, 11:20:10 AM
I'm using Avast One Essential 22.2.6003 (build 22.2.7013.711).

When I 'allow' an app through the Firewall by choosing the exe file, it says it will allow all inbound and outbound connections for that app. But I read an Avast article that says "Each time you connect to an untrusted network, Firewall blocks all incoming communication and applies a higher level of security to ensure your privacy and safety."

The article is at https://support.avast.com/en-my/article/Use-Antivirus-Firewall/#idt_010.

So when I allow an app through Firewall but use Untrusted Network, are inbound connections blocked for that app?

Hi,

In general, you should be able to allow inbound connections by adding an app rule.

I am disappointed in the Allow to add app in Firewall. As I am using Untrusted Network, I was hoping it will block all inbound connections as stated in the above article. At least in Avast Free, I can check if any app allow inbound connections and block them.

By default, the Untrusted profile will block everything. Users can change this for selected apps by manually changing their rules.
