This sales pitch is troubling since the only way to resolve the 'risk'
is to purchase paid additions.
Where is the ability to mark these items as read and have the warning dismissed.
Choosing the Windows 11 Firewall is a personal choice and in my or a users eyes
not really a security risk but, that's one of the items listed. Thanks

Hi, for the interested ones - you can now show detection dialogs in silent mode.

I don't see that option in the FREE version which is where it would be appreciated. :)

Ouch, I know what you mean, guess the marketing guys don't like it... ;)

Not only is this a poor idea, so what is going to happen with web shield alerts, no alert or message, just you can't access a site or sites.

Not very helpful for users (paid or free using silent mode) who can't access a site and no reason given and worse no alert window to gather information to report a site alert as a possible FP.

Even worse no information or screenshot to take to the forums or report as a possible false positive.

Unfortunately the marketing guys don't have to clean up the horse droppings in the forums.

Hello DavidR, to be honest, I'm not sure If I understand your post correctly. But I will try :) What happens with web shield alerts when silent mode is on and show detection sub-option is on too? You just see the detection (see screenshot), or try it with eicar. And what happens with detection when silent mode is on in free version? You will see it in notification. Malware is automatically sent to the chest and from that place, you can send it to the analyses (if it looks like FP).
It was not easy to improve the silent mode for paid users - not technically but let's say from another aspect :) I consider it as a small victory, if you have ideas what can be done even better, feel free to let me know directly on petr.blatny@avast.com

Petr

I was just worried that you got no information if silent mode was on.

And as you say it wasn't easy to improve for paid users.
That was and is a concern, not so much for me as I don't use Silent Mode on Avast Free, but for others that do.  As bob3160 mentioned "I don't see that option in the FREE version which is where it would be appreciated."

The problem is I'm not running the beta build so I couldn't see this option (or test) in the Notifications settings and I'm using Avast Free.
