Title: Firewall
Post by: Michael93 on April 22, 2022, 06:35:19 PM
I just tested my Avast Firewall with a 2002 leak test program and this is the result:

Firewall Penetrated!

LeakTest WAS ABLE to connect to
the main GRC.COM Web Server!

LeakTest was not prevented from connecting to the Gibson Research web server.  You either have no firewall,  you have deliberately allowed LeakTest to connect outbound,  or (if neither of those), LeakTest has just slipped past your firewall's outbound "protection", if any.

Here is the link for you to try- https://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm
Is it the same for you? Does this mean we need another firewall?

I'm using Avast Premium for 2 yrs. Windows10 64bit. Latest updates. I'm worried firewall. I use SpyShelter. Before I used Kaspersky
I'm worried firewall won't stop hackers effectively with LeakTest penetration

I did not set a rule as I was testing firewall like what would happen in the wild
without knowing a penetration was being attempted

Set the FW rule for the app to BLOCK and try again.

The firewall will block it if i tell it to then but not if I don't.
Advanced/Expert users can set the firewall to "ASK" for full control.
