Title: Avast settings changes ask for Mac password
Post by: green2 on June 10, 2022, 10:26:10 PM
I'm using Avast One on my MacBook Pro. Whenever I make any changes to Avast settings, like to enable or disable a particular service (say File Shield), a dialog pops up asking for my Mac password. I am the administrator and I have the box unchecked in Security & Privacy to "Require an administrator password to access system-wide preferences.

Does anyone know what I can do to allow Avast One to make internal changes without requesting this password?

Hi,

Mac OS is designed like that - any changes need to be approved by the administrator.

Hello,

to be more precise, particularly changes that alter the level of protection the product provides require an administrator authorization. Unfortunately there is currently no technology provided by Apple that would allow us to authorize a user as an administrator with touchID.

We have filled enhancement request to Apple and hopefully it will be possible one day.
