Title: suspicious file detected by avast when sending OE6 mail
Post by: xpuser4real on December 12, 2007, 07:36:59 AM
Hi, I installed Avast Home on a friend's PC and she uses outlook express 6.0.
When she tries sending out a text message from OE Avast pops up and keeps saying suspicious file found and if she would still like to send the e-mail. There is nothing in the e-mail except a thankyou note or something small....no attachments. This is a fresh install of XP Home.
What would be causing avast to put up the virus warning?
For now I have turned off the scanning of outgoing mail and OE has worked fine.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks

suspicious file found
Please, post a screenshot of the message (see how: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8982.0).
You can use Gadwin PrintScreen to get a screenshot (http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/) or the free version of WinSnap 1.1.10 (http://www.filehippo.com/download_winsnap/?2173).

The Heuristics tabs of settings rule the behavior of avast Internet Mail provider messages on suspicious files.

Hi, I guess the case is closed for now. I asked her to reboot the pc and put a checkmark back in so Avast would scan outbound mail, and for some strange reason the pop-up wasn't there any more.
Thanks for the help.
