Title: Full Virus Scan issue
Post by: Baz8755 on June 19, 2022, 11:32:36 AM
This morning I decided to do a full virus scan and it gets to around 90% and then goes back to 30%.

Eventually it goes to 34% and then sort gets confused as to whether or not it has finished the scan. Some views show the scan is running whilst others say scan is complete, no disk activity is showing in task manager.

I usually run a full scan every month or so and have never seen this issue

Repair Avast:
1. Avast GUI -> Settings -> Troubleshooting
2. Click on 'REPAIR APP'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Whilst the scan should work.

Has your on-demand scan ever found anything ?
The reason I ask is that with a resident antivirus (on-access), then on demand scans are greatly depreciated as active files on your system would be scanned automatically by the file shield.

Those files that are essentially dormant, do they really need scanning in an on-demand scan!

I ended up doing a boot time scan and it reported 2 issues.

1. It found BogEnt on a Fusion360 temporary file, this seems to get reported quite often when I scan. I do delete it but it keeps coming back whenever Autodesk roll out an update.
2. An old windows update archive was corrupt, so I deleted it.

Scanning now works fine again, not sure if these findings caused the issue though.
