Title: Avast keyboard driver causing errors with arrow keys
Post by: mstern2 on June 19, 2022, 11:04:01 PM
On 6/7/2022 an avast update installed a bunch of drivers asw*.sys, one of which was a keyboard driver aswkbd.sys.  Since that time, I find that a very old legacy program MLAB dated 1998 displays arrow and navigation keys as capital letters instead of moving the cursor.  This is a known bug in MLAB with certain old versions of Windows but it may not be possible to upgrade the program any more.  MLAB has run on this Win7Pro AMD64 machine with Avast! free, with no problems since 2013 and the keys still work normally in the Windows XPmode  It is possible that the problem is actually due to a pen-tablet that I installed recently, but avast is the only thing that has installed a keyboard driver.  The question is whether it is possible to disable the new driver without disabling the keyboard, which would leave the machine inoperable.  There are still two older keyboard drivers shown in the control panel.

Thanks for answer!
