Title: CRASHES

I JUST DOWNLOADED AVAST4 ON MY WIN2000 MACHINE AT HOME AND NOW THE PC WILL BOOT UP BUT THEN FREEZES UP COMPLETELY WHEN I ATTEMPT TO START ANY PROGRAM. CNTL+ALT+DELETE DOES NOTHING.........CANT GET TO TASK MANAGER........HELP!

Don´t you use some other antiviral program? We don´t recommend to use two or more antiviral programs at the same time. It can cause many problems and the operating system may become unstable. Also the results of virus scan can be affected.

Uninstall the other antivirus from safe mode of Windows.

Did you install system recovery. You will see as an option at boot if so select it and select last known good system or something like that.
The other option is to reinstall the OS I would recommend you use NTFS since it can boot from any were. Also most virus go after FAT systems. Not to mention the better security with NTFS.
