Title: Firewall Blocking Printer?
Post by: j-meister on July 25, 2022, 03:32:55 PM
Running Avast One (free) ver 22.6.6022 (build 22.6.7355.734) in Windows 11.  Brother laser printer connected via ethernet to Xfinity cable modem/router.

Last night, I tried printing something and the printer wouldn't respond.  After the usual restarts, I rebooted the Xfinity modem and all was well.  Turned the computer and printer off for the evening.

This morning, same thing happened - no printing.  I disabled the Avast One firewall and the moment I did, all my previous unprinted jobs came out of the printer.  I turned the firewall back on and it seems OK now.

Thoughts?  I did do the latest Windows 11 update a couple of days ago.  But it seems like the print jobs get stuck somewhere in the path to (or maybe inside) the Xfinity router and it seems to have something to do with the Avast One firewall.

Hi,

Under Firewall, ensure the network you are connected to is set to Trusted/Private.
